Ten gods · existence, not verdict
The phrase sounds like a diagnosis. Structurally it is an existence check: does any stem in the chart, visible or hidden, belong to the element the day master controls? For some day masters that check fails far more easily than for others — and that asymmetry is the real finding.
The ten gods are grouped by the element relation between the day master and the target stem; the group called wealth is the element the day master controls. Same polarity gives indirect wealth, opposite gives direct wealth — so every day master has exactly two wealth stems:
| Day master | Controls | Wealth stems | Indirect / direct |
|---|---|---|---|
The check runs over two layers: the visible stems of the four pillars, and the stems hidden inside the four branches. The table counts which branches hide no wealth stem at all — if all four branches land on those, and no visible stem is wealth either, the chart truly contains none:
| Day master | Wealth stems | Branches hiding no wealth stem | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| 甲 Jia | 戊 Wu 己 Ji | 子 Zi, Rat 卯 Mao, Rabbit 酉 You, Rooster 亥 Hai, Pig | 4 / 12 |
| 乙 Yi | 戊 Wu 己 Ji | 子 Zi, Rat 卯 Mao, Rabbit 酉 You, Rooster 亥 Hai, Pig | 4 / 12 |
Hai, Pig | 7 / 12 |
Hai, Pig | 7 / 12 |
| 戊 Wu | 壬 Ren 癸 Gui | 寅 Yin, Tiger 卯 Mao, Rabbit 巳 Si, Snake 午 Wu, Horse 未 Wei, Goat 酉 You, Rooster 戌 Xu, Dog | 7 / 12 |
| 己 Ji | 壬 Ren 癸 Gui | 寅 Yin, Tiger 卯 Mao, Rabbit 巳 Si, Snake 午 Wu, Horse 未 Wei, Goat 酉 You, Rooster 戌 Xu, Dog | 7 / 12 |
| 庚 Geng | 甲 Jia 乙 Yi | 子 Zi, Rat 丑 Chou, Ox 巳 Si, Snake 午 Wu, Horse 申 Shen, Monkey 酉 You, Rooster 戌 Xu, Dog | 7 / 12 |
| 辛 Xin | 甲 Jia 乙 Yi | 子 Zi, Rat 丑 Chou, Ox 巳 Si, Snake 午 Wu, Horse 申 Shen, Monkey 酉 You, Rooster 戌 Xu, Dog | 7 / 12 |
| 壬 Ren | 丙 Bing 丁 Ding | 子 Zi, Rat 丑 Chou, Ox 卯 Mao, Rabbit 辰 Chen, Dragon 申 Shen, Monkey 酉 You, Rooster 亥 Hai, Pig | 7 / 12 |

Note the asymmetry: for Wood day masters only 4 branches hide no wealth stem, against 7 for every other day master. The reason is in the hidden-stem table: when Earth is the wealth element it is hidden in only four branches, while the other elements are distributed more widely. This is a structural fact and every branch above can be checked.
Of the sixty day pillars, 12 have a main qi that is already the wealth element for their own day master. These are the ones hardest to describe as having no wealth star:
| Day pillar | Day master | Branch main qi | Wealth type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 丁酉 Ding You | 丁 Ding | 辛 Xin | 偏财 |
The absence of a wealth star is a genuine topic in traditional reading, but it concerns the structure of a chart, not your bank balance. This site issues no wealth forecast and converts no structural fact into an income level — that step has no reproducible intermediate. The tables above answer a much narrower question: does this chart contain any stem belonging to the element the day master controls? The answer is yes or no, and neither is advice.
A note on what this page deliberately does not do: the popular versions of this material assign a fixed personality to each term — one character per branch, one destiny per stage. This site rejects that framing. What is published here is a structural position: which element sits where, on what kind of ground, with which tenants inside. The same term reads differently under a different month command, and no meaningful judgement exists without the other characters of the chart. Where the tradition offers a reading it is labelled as the tradition's; this site's own contribution is that every number and term on this page is computed, versioned and checkable against the methodology page.
These are the questions specific to this page; broader conventions live on the methodology page.
Every enumerable component of ba zi has its own page here. Each page is computed by the same engine and can be checked item by item — none of it is a personality table.
