Stem and branch relations

The combine and clash tables are the most quoted and least fully printed tables in popular ba zi. This site gives each of the eight relations its own page: every pair sourced, derived and school-marked; the harms are not a second hand copy but a derivation from what harmonizes with me is clashed, verified branch by branch by build assertions.

Method and computed distributions

Definitions and derivations live on the methodology page (R35). These numbers are verified on the spot by the engine, not sampled:

What are the relation pages?
The pairwise relation tables of stems and branches: five stem combines and four stem clashes, plus the six branch harmonies, clashes, harms, trines, punishments and half combinations — 8 pages, each with the complete table, a one-step derivation, school notes and a four-pillar scanner.
Do these tables contradict each other?
No. Harmony, clash and harm interlock by the derivation harm = clash ∘ harmony, enforced as build-time assertions. Where readings genuinely conflict (such as whether Wu-Wei transforms), that is a school divergence, printed side by side rather than silently resolved.
How does the scanner work?
Enter a birth moment: it judges all pairwise relations of your four pillars (6 stem pairs + 6 branch pairs) — combines, clashes, harms, punishments, half combinations, each hit labelled. Blanks are results too.
Can these relations tell good from bad?
No. The tables are structural truth — who harmonizes with whom, who clashes whom. Auspicious or not depends on favorability, position and school, all whole-chart matters. Every page on this site keeps that boundary.
