Six Harm (Liu Hai): every pair, derived

The six harms derive in one step from what harmonizes with me is clashed: each branch's harm partner is the clash of its harmony partner. This page lists all six and enforces that derivation as a build-time assertion, verified 12/12.

Computed facts (engine-verified + build-time assertions)

This page is generated from engine vv0.14.0; the pairs follow convention R35 on the methodology page, and the generator refuses to render if any cross-check fails. Audit item by item.

A note on what this page deliberately does not do: the popular versions of this material assign a fixed personality to each term — one character per branch, one destiny per stage. This site rejects that framing. What is published here is a structural position: which element sits where, on what kind of ground, with which tenants inside. The same term reads differently under a different month command, and no meaningful judgement exists without the other characters of the chart. Where the tradition offers a reading it is labelled as the tradition's; this site's own contribution is that every number and term on this page is computed, versioned and checkable against the methodology page.

Frequently asked

Where do the six harms come from?
One-step derivation: the branch that clashes my harmony partner harms me. For example, Zi harmonizes with Chou; Chou is clashed by Wei; so Zi and Wei harm each other. The derivation is a build-time assertion here, holding 12/12.
Harm and clash are both adversarial — what differs?
A clash is a direct antipode (+6); a harm is the breaker of a harmony — defined indirectly through the harmony table. The two tables interlock in one derivation chain, which is why this page can derive the harms rather than copy a second table.
Are harms serious?
The classics tie harms to damaged relations, but their application is more conservative than clashes. This page gives the truth table and the derivation, not verdicts; the weighing belongs to a full chart and its school.
